Travel across Germany with public transport.

The Germany Ticket costs 49 euros per month and is valid nationwide for second-class travel on local public transport. The Ticket is valid only for the named user and is non-transferrable.  There are Special versions of the Germany Ticket available, such as job-tickets or semester-tickets.

Purchasing a Germany Ticket through the VRM D-Ticket app is easy, you simply need to download the app from the Google Play Store or the App Store:

Der Preis des D-Tickets wird ab dem 01. Januar 2025 erhöht. Diese Anpassung wurde durch den Koordinierungsrat beschlossen und in den Tarifbestimmungen des D-Tickets entsprechend verankert.

Der Preis des D-Tickets erhöht sich ab dem 01.01.2025 auf 58,- € monatlich, der Preis des D-Ticket als Jobticket erhöht sich auf 55,10 € pro Monat.

Wenn Sie ein D-Ticket über die VRM-App erworben haben und auch im Januar 2025 weiterhin nutzen möchten, müssen Sie nichts tun. Ihr D-Ticket wird ab Januar automatisch zum neuen Preis weitergeführt.

Falls Sie mit dieser Änderung nicht einverstanden sind, haben Sie bis spätestens zum 10. Dezember 2024 die Möglichkeit, Ihr D-Ticket mit Ablauf des Monats Dezember 2024 zu kündigen. Hierzu nutzen Sie bitte die Kündigungsmöglichkeit in der VRM D-Ticket App wie folgt: Loggen Sie sich in der App ein und wählen Sie im Menü Einstellungen und Abonnement kündigen. Bestätigen Sie die Kündigung über einen Klick auf den "Weiter"-Button.



Questions and answers about the "D-Ticket"

The Deutschland ticket, or “D-Ticket”:

  • was launched on 1st May 2023
  • is a digital, monthly subscription, ticket,
  • is personalised, non-transferable and only valid in conjunction with an official photo ID
  • costs 49 euros per month
  • can be cancelled monthly.

The D-Ticket is generally valid throughout Germany on all public transport operated by the transport associations and all local transport companies. It can be used on all local transport vehicles throughout Germany, i.e. buses, trams, city trains and underground trains as well as S-Bahn, regional trains, and regional express trains in 2nd class.

In the VRM area, all ferries that are integrated into the VRM network can be used.

The ticket is not valid on long-distance services (IC, EC, ICE).

Private providers, such as FlixTrain or FlixBus, are also excluded. The D-Ticket is also not valid on means of transport that are primarily used for tourism or historical purposes.

The Deutschland-Ticket issued by Verkehrsverbund-Rhein-Mosel (VRM) is only available as a mobile phone ticket from the "D-Ticket-VRM" app. The ticket is a monthly subscription ticket that is automatically extended by one month if it is not cancelled.

The Deutschland-Ticket can be cancelled at the end of the month by the 10th of the month at the latest.

You can now purchase the Deutschland ticket from VRM securely and conveniently via the "D-Ticket-VRM" app, it is only available as a mobile phone ticket.

First download the "D-Ticket VRM" app from the store onto your mobile phone. You will be asked to register once you have downloaded the app. Enter your e-mail address and set a password. After clicking on Register, you will receive an e-mail asking you to verify your e-mail address. Once your email address is verified, you should see that your customer account has been successfully activated. You can now enter your personal details under "Customer account" and set the start date for your Deutschland ticket. Then choose the desired payment method under "Payment method".  After you have paid, your ticket will be displayed in your app, but it will only be visible from your chosen start date.

The first payment will be triggered immediately once ticket is ordered, regardless of whether the ticket was purchased in advance or is to be valid immediately. Subsequent payments will always be taken on the first of the month.

No, unless you have cancelled the contract, your Deutschland ticket will be automatically extended for a further month and subsequent payments taken.

No, in the first month cancellations or exchanges are not possible in accordance with the fare conditions for the Deutschland-Ticket, however the Deutschland-Ticket can be cancelled at the end of the month by the 10th of the month at the latest.

The Deutschland ticket can be cancelled online monthly.
The Deutschland-Ticket can be cancelled to the end of the month by the 10th of the month at the latest.  If the contract is not cancelled the subscription will be renewed automatically.

Should you wish to cancel your Deutschland-Ticket, you must first cancel your ticket in the app. You can cancel your subscription in the menu by clicking on the three dots on the top right in blue bar and selecting “Settings” followed by "Cancel subscription".
In accordance with the national fare regulations, cancellation is only possible up to the 10th day for the following month. This means that you must cancel your ticket by the 10th day of the month at the latest, so that the cancellation takes effect by the first day of the following month (e.g. a cancellation by 10 September will take effect on 1 October).

Children under the age of six travel free of charge on public transport and do not need a ticket.
Children aged 6 and over require their own Deutschland-Ticket.

Children and young people under the age of 18 who have their own smartphone can also buy the Deutschland-Ticket in the VRM D-Ticket app, with the permission of a parent or guardian. Simply Download the app to their smartphone and register with their email address and personal details.
The email address of a parent or guardian is then required for payment. The parent or guardian will then receive an email to accept payment for the ticket and finalise the order.
As with the adult ticket, it can be cancelled monthly up to the 10th day of the previous month.

No, the Deutschland ticket is personalised and cannot be transferred to another person. It is only valid in conjunction with an official photo ID.

It is not possible to take people over the age of 6 with you free of charge.
Children under the age of six travel free of charge on public transport and, therefore, do not need a ticket.
Children aged 6 and over would require their own Deutschland-Ticket.

The carriage of bicycles is subject to the regulations of the respective transport associations. In the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel (VRM), bicycles can be taken on board in accordance with section 6.9 of the fare regulations.
The following applies:
In principle, bicycles can be carried free of charge all day on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays and from 9:00 a.m. Mondays to Fridays.
On rail transport, a reduced single ticket of price level 4 must be purchased to take bicycles on weekdays before 9.00 a.m.; this does not apply to bus transport.
Generally, bicycles are carried according to available capacity and carriage is not guaranteed!

The rules for the free carriage of dogs on buses also applies to customers with a Deutschland ticket, in accordance with the VRM fare regulations.
For journeys outside the VRM area, the regulations of the respective transport associations apply.

The Deutschland ticket is also available as a JobTicket:
If your employer contributes at least 25% (≙ 12.25 euros) per month towards the cost of each Deutschland ticket, they can conclude a contract with the VRM and purchase the Deutschland Ticket as a JobTicket at a price of 46.55 euros per month, per user.
For you, as the ticket holder, it will then only cost a maximum of 34.30 euros per month (should your employer pay a greater subsidy, then, correspondingly, less).

Before boarding, please ensure that your mobile phone is ready for use.
First start the VRM D-Ticket App to display the stored ticket on your mobile phone, show this to the driver or ticket inspector.
To show your details, tap on the QR code or the “Tap for details” button on your ticket it will then display your name, date of birth and the validity of the ticket.
In addition, you must also show your official photo ID.

If you only change your mobile phone number or SIM card, you do not need to do anything. Simply enter your new mobile phone number in your customer account.
If you change your mobile phone (new device) while your Deutschland-Ticket is valid, simply download the "D-Ticket VRM" app onto the new device, start the app and enter your email address and password. The app will authenticate your details and display your valid Deutschland-Ticket on your new mobile phone.
The D-Ticket will only be displayed after authentication is completed.

If you have a valid ticket but the barcode is not being displayed, you should:
a) log out of the app in the menu (click on the three dots top righthand corner) and log in again with your email and password. If the problem persists, please uninstall and reinstall the app and try again.
Please note that the barcode is only visible when the ticket is valid.
For example, if you purchase a ticket for the first day of the following month, the barcode will only be visible on the first day of the next month.
